A girl and her dog...

Avery just adores Murphy and Winston. When they come into the room, she lights up and smiles. For Murphy, the feeling is mutual. But for Winston... well, since Avery isn't considered vermin, he doesn't really care much about her.

Some of the best pictures I've taken have been with Murphy involved. It's tough to get Avery to smile for the camera. She'll smile just fine for me, but when the camera is in front of my face, it's a totally different story.

Well, well, well...

Guess who's getting a little attitude? Avery is starting to show her 'preferences' for things. It is both amusing and eye-opening at the same time. She wants to do certain things by herself - holding certain items, like her pacifier, has become a biggie. The other day I let her try to drink from a straw, but I held the tip so that she couldn't hurt herself with the straw. She tried to take it out of my hand, and when I wouldn't let go, she threw a fit! I think it's funny right now, but I'm sure in a couple of months it won't be quite as cute as it is now :)

Waving bye-bye!

Avery is beginning to mimic movements we do, so I thought I'd try to teach her to wave 'bye-bye.' She's actually doing it! It's hard to believe... she sort of 'woke up' a couple of weeks ago and suddenly pays attention to everything. I don't have any pictures to share just yet, but I hope to catch it on film really soon!
