My husband built me a camera closet! We used the coat closet near our front door (which never really housed any coats…) and converted it into a storage closet for my gear. First he installed a few shelves where I keep my Pelican case and other bulky items. Then, he put in several $3 Ikea spice racks to hold lenses and other gear.

I told him that I want to close and lock the door so it all will stay clean and organized forever!

    Veeeerrry cool idea. Looks great!

  2. I am in awe of all your lenses, cameras and photography stuff in general! Beautiful job on the storage space.
I’m in the market for another lens to add to my very small collection. I currently have a Nikon D300. The two lenses that I have are a: 50mm 1.8 and 18-200mm. I like to do portraits but also find myself chasing my 18 month old daughter around the house and also like to take photos of the custom invitations I design. I am such a fan of your photographs so I was wondering if you could give me some advice on another lens that I should add to my repertoire? My budget is $750.
    Thanks so much, as always!

Hi Mandy! I love my 50’s — I have a 1.8 and a 1.4. On a d300, however, I use a 35mm 1.8DX because it fits the cropped sensor like a 50 fits a full frame. I enjoy that focal length because I feel like it sees what I see — no zoom, just the human ‘eye’ perspective, so to speak. You can pick one up for under $400 I believe! On the other hand, a macro can be fun, too. I have a 60mm and try to play with it often, but I am not one to whip out my tripod and I find that it’s helpful to use a stable surface when trying to focus with a macro. Good luck choosing! I know how tough it can be to decide these things :)
