Death Valley Trip, 2011 – Day Three!

It’s been a while since I’ve worked on my 600+ pictures of Death Valley. I had such a great time, I can’t wait to do it again next Spring Break! It was just so amazing! Here are some more photos to share.

First, we started off by going to Scotty’s Castle. It’s a weird little place with an even weirder history. Pretty cool for being in the middle of nowhere, though!

After Scotty’s Castle, we hit the Stovepipe Wells Sand Dunes. It was GORGEOUS, but definintely tough to photograph in the middle of the day. Next time, I plan to visit some of the spots nearer to sunset to capture the contours of the landscape better. Live and learn…

The dunes were windy, so we then headed to Monarch Canyon, and took the Beatty Cutoff to Rhyolite. Such a beautiful drive!!! We gassed up over the Nevada border, visited the Rhyolite Ghost Town, and then took Titus Canyon back to camp. It was a long, fun day :)

Avery had written her name on the Jeep window at some point… I thought it was kind of funny to capture it while it was so visible in the sun :)
